Paige Vinson’s international experience coupled with the fact that she was raised in the Finger Lakes is the perfect combination for Rooster Hill’s style of wines.
Paige, whose winery experience ranges from the Finger Lakes to Oregon and Australia and New Zealand, was appointed Winemaker at Rooster Hill in 2016.
Vinson grew up in Honeoye in the Western Finger Lakes and graduated from Alfred University in 2010 with a BA degree in Fine Arts and Philosophy. She draws an interesting comparison of art and winemaking in that “you need to be creative and think outside the box to make the best wine from whatever set of cards you’ve been dealt that year.”
Vinson’s interest in farming and gardening ultimately led her career search to viticulture and enology and the Finger Lakes Community College program where she earned an associate’s degree in Viticulture and Wine Technology in 2014.
Working outside of the Finger Lakes helped her “see wine production elsewhere” and get a sense of the competition for Finger Lakes wineries. It also allowed her to learn what winemakers in all types of situations find important.
Happy to be in the Finger Lakes, Vinson says, “The beauty of the Finger Lakes is that we have a chance to experiment as much or as little as we like. The region is still evolving.”
We are proud to work with our distribution partner, Opici Wine Company of New York.
